Kaye Bewley Psych MA, HG-Dip, EFT-ADV Cert.

After many years spent in the media and marketing environments, I returned to study in 2004, and ended up earning a Masters in Psychotherapy at Nottingham Trent University in 2013.

This page details the qualifications I have earned to ensure my competence to help you through your rough patches.  I have presented workshops and have written several psycho-therapeutic books, many of which I have given away for free, as well as helped to promote other therapists through my newsletters, publications and websites.

I keep up-to-date with my professional development and training (CPDs), and therefore have the best knowledge to give to you.  I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and continually attend new educational courses - online and in person.

In essence, I have gained experience in the media, marketing and military environments for a good few decades before realising I had a knack for connecting with people.

After securing my educational goals, I put my experience and skills to use by assisting people with the issues they faced.  Plus, I had a day job where I assisted those who experienced traumatic stress (PTSD), those who suffer with anxiety, anger and addictions which was spiraling them down into depression, as well as couples who were on the brink of breaking up.  In addition to this, because of my interest in the written word (i.e. books), I have also mentored writers by building their confidence enough to get published - all this, for FREE!

Having a talented and enthusiastic counsellor is vital to the success of the therapeutic experience.  This is the reason I emphasise a down-to-earth practical approach.

Many people have enjoyed the type of therapy I have taught them, after which they have usually figured out what it is that they want from life and, finally, find themselves getting on with it.

Nottingham Trent University

A Masters (Hons) degree in Psychotherapy was awarded to me.  For my final project, 'Soldiers & Civvies: a comparative analysis of the emotional meaning in their work cultures', I received a Distinction.  This project was aligned with the concepts of the Human Givens Therapy which is a global research organisation concerned with progressing the most effective forms of counselling and psychotherapy.  Human Givens works holistically, with scientifically accepted methods, to find the missing emotional needs of clients and works at unearthing their skills and abilities to get the unmet needs met.  It is closely tied to research in consciousness and the spiritual aspects of humanity as well as using techniques aligned with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Human Givens College

From 2004 through to today, I have supported the Human Givens College, promoting it at every opportunity.  This is a method that has proven to work quickly and unobstrusively helping people back to health.  It is registered with IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) and is a registered charity.  The College was established over twenty years ago by its founders, Joe Griffin and Ivan Tyrrell, both men are leaders in the psychological field, and were determined to unearth new methods that worked for the mind and emotions.  My Diploma was secured through a number of in-person presentations and workshops held across the United Kingdom and after a two-week residential course I completed in North London.

Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre

I completed a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques from the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre, Oxford, UK.  This type of therapy is backed by thousands of research papers proving its evidence-based effectiveness.  The therapy is a structured form of psychotherapy that assists in changing unhelpful thinking and behaviour during times of distress. It is fully compatible with medication if you use this. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) gives an overview which supports its effectiveness, while the Royal College of Psychiatrists gives a summary.  With a remit to provide specialist teaching and training tailored for Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre OCTC comes under Oxford Health NHS Trust while working alongside Oxford University.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

The Diploma in Emotional Freedom Techniques was earned in 2007.  The Emotional Freedom Technique method has been used for over 40 years, and I took my training with Gary Craig, founder of the EFT Institute.  It presents a form of tapping on the accupressure points on certain parts of the face and body, while simultaneously repeating positive affirmations thereby linking brain and body with thoughts for healing.

British Psychological Society

To keep up-to-date with psychological advancement, I'm an Affiliate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) which is the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK. The BPS are responsible for the development, promotion and application of psychology for the public good.  The BPS enhances the efficiency and usefulness of psychologists by setting high standards of professional education and knowledge.
